Ruth Handy is the founder of the Jizo Peace Center and a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker. She has a strong mandate to share the
gentleness of Jizo Bodhisattva from Japan and other Asian countries
and to help bring peace to the world. Ruth has practiced meditation
for over 30 years at Ananda Ashrama in La Crescenta, CA and
attended Buddhist retreats. She traveled to Japan, India, and
China to understand more about faith and the power of love to
inspire our lives.
Joyce Dvoren, a weekend resident of PMC, will offer a mixed
level hatha yoga class followed by optional deeksha, or Oneness
Blessing, during savasana (relaxation). Deeksha is a hands-on
blessing from the Oneness University in Southern India, which
helps to align the energy centers of the body. Everyone's experience
is different; a common response is deeper relaxation. Joyce
teaches a variety of yoga classes in Los Angeles at L.A. Fitness,
Santa Monica Yoga, the Cancer Support Community and retirement
homes.
